Williams Uniform Complaint Procedures

Williams Uniform Complaint Procedures

Every Student Deserves the Basics for Learning

Williams Uniform Complaint Procedures provide a way to report concerns involving instructional materials, teacher vacancies or misassignments, and certain school facility conditions. Complaints may be submitted anonymously and should be filed with the principal of the school where the concern occurred.

What Williams Complaints Cover

  • Instructional materials: Students do not have required textbooks or materials for use in class or at home, materials are damaged or unusable, or students receive only photocopied portions because of a shortage.
  • Teacher vacancies or misassignments: A class does not have an assigned teacher, a teacher is not properly credentialed for the assignment, or a teacher lacks the required authorization to teach English learners.
  • Emergency or urgent facilities: A school condition poses an immediate threat to the health or safety of students or staff, such as a gas leak, electrical failure, sewer problem, major pest infestation, broken security doors or windows, or hazardous structural damage.
  • Restrooms and menstrual products: Restrooms are not clean, operational, properly stocked, or kept open as required. This also includes required free menstrual products and, where applicable, the requirement to maintain at least one all-gender student restroom.

How to File
Complaints may be submitted anonymously. Use of the District form is encouraged but not required. However, contact information must be provided if you would like to receive a written response.

  1. Complete the Williams complaint form or prepare a written statement describing the concern.
  2. Submit it to the principal or designee of the school where the concern occurred.
  3. Indicate whether you would like a written response.
  4. Keep a copy for your records.

Timelines and Appeal Rights
A valid complaint will be remedied within 30 working days. If a written response is requested, the District will provide information about the resolution within 45 working days.

If you are dissatisfied with the resolution, you may describe the complaint to the Board of Trustees at a regularly scheduled meeting. Certain complaints involving emergency or urgent facility conditions may be appealed to the State Superintendent of Public Instruction within 15 days of receiving the District’s response.

Williams' complaints and written responses are public records as provided by law.
