Meal Charge Policy
PLESD is committed to providing students with access to healthy meals each school day. The District’s Meal Charge Policy establishes consistent procedures for managing student meal accounts and addressing outstanding balances.
The policy also helps Nutrition Services meet federal reporting requirements for the USDA Child Nutrition Program while providing clear expectations for families and the District.
When a student does not have available funds for a meal, PLESD works to ensure the student continues to have access to food while the account balance is addressed with the parent or guardian.
Negative Balances & Collections
PLESD understands that account balances may occasionally fall below zero. Families are encouraged to review their student’s meal account regularly and address any outstanding balance as soon as possible.
