Active & Engaged Learning: Enrichment and Supplemental Instruction

Project Resilience provides hands-on, engaging enrichment that extends — not duplicates — the school day. Students deepen their learning through creative projects, real-world exploration, collaboration, and problem-solving while building confidence and social-emotional skills.

Daily enrichment includes STEAM activities, art, movement, literacy, math exploration, and social-emotional learning (SEL), led by trained educators and community partners. Rather than traditional classroom instruction, students apply their skills through project-based learning, teamwork, and creative expression.

Our enrichment offerings reflect diverse student interests and strengths, including art, theatre, creative writing, dance, sports (soccer, tennis, golf), LEGO exploration, yoga, music, and Mystery Science. Students also benefit from partnerships with local organizations that expand learning opportunities beyond the classroom.

To support the whole child, a school psychologist and counseling intern provide weekly group and individual counseling using the Second Step SEL curriculum for select students. These supports help students strengthen self-awareness, relationship skills, and responsible decision-making.

Students celebrate their learning through meaningful culminating projects such as published books, art exhibitions, theatre productions, and performances. Older students also mentor younger peers through our Reading Buddies program, fostering leadership and belonging.

For Transitional Kindergarten students, Project Curiosity offers developmentally appropriate, play-based enrichment focused on early literacy, numeracy, sensory exploration, and motor development.

Through intentional enrichment, strong community partnerships, and integrated social-emotional supports, Project Resilience ensures students experience active, engaging learning that extends the classroom and supports the whole child.
