As our community continues to grow, we’ve been receiving more requests from families looking for trusted local resources. We’re excited to support that need by introducing our Community Resource Page on the district website.

This page is designed to be a helpful, one-stop hub where families can easily discover and connect with local programs, services, and opportunities available right here in the Plumas Lake area. We hope it makes settling in and staying connected to our community even easier.

Littles-Childcare

Littles-Childcare is a licensed in-home childcare program dedicated to providing a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment for young children and school-age youth. The program serves working families by offering dependable full-day care Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., supporting both early childhood development and family stability within the community.

At Littles-Childcare, children participate in age-appropriate activities that promote social-emotional growth, early literacy, creativity, and school readiness. Daily routines include structured learning time, outdoor play, meals, rest periods, and opportunities for independent exploration. The program also emphasizes consistency, positive behavior support, and strong communication with families to help children feel confident and successful in their development.

In addition to childcare services, Littles-Childcare supports families by creating a dependable environment where parents can focus on work, education, and personal goals, knowing their children are cared for in a safe and engaging setting. As a small business rooted in the local community, the program values trust, reliability, and meaningful relationships with both children and families.

Through its commitment to quality care and early learning, Littles-Childcare continues to support working families while helping children build strong foundations for future academic and personal success. ๐ŸŒฑ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ‘ง๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘ฆ๐Ÿฝโœจ

Meet the Owner – Shawna Aust Hi, I’m Shawna! I’ve lived in Plumas Lake my entire life and am proud to serve the community I call home. I’m a mom to three boys and a proud fire wife—my husband serves with our local fire department. When I'm not at Kids Cove, you'll find me cheering on my boys in their many sports (I'm a full-time sports mom!) or volunteering my time helping our local schools raise money for events, programs, and field trips. Kids Cove is more than a childcare program-it's an extension of my heart and my commitment to supporting families in our community.

Mimi's PlayHouse and Preschool

Mimi's PlayHouse and Preschool is a warm, nurturing home daycare proudly serving Plumas Lake and the surrounding areas, for children ages 6 months to 8 years.

With over 22 years of hands-on childcare experience, I am dedicated to providing a safe, loving, and structured environment where children feel secure, valued, and excited to learn each day.

My program is built around a learn-through-play curriculum that encourages curiosity, creativity, and confidence. Children are engaged in purposeful play-based activities that naturally support early learning in areas such as language development, social skills, early math concepts, and problem-solving.

Mimis PlayHouse also incorporates a variety of sensory-based activities that help strengthen fine motor skills, improve concentration, and encourage cooperation, sharing, and self-regulation. Learning happens organically through exploration, imagination, and hands-on experiences - making education both meaningful and fun.

At Mimi's PlayHouse, children are treated like family. I strive to create a true home-away-from-home atmosphere where each child receives individualized attention, encouragement, and care.

My goal is to support not only early academic growth, but also emotional development, kindness, and a lifelong love of learning in a setting filled with warmth, consistency, and joy.
