Fresh, local foods connecting students to our community
PLESD’s Farm to School program brings locally grown fruits and vegetables into our school meals while helping students learn where their food comes from. Through partnerships with regional farms, students have opportunities to enjoy fresh seasonal produce and build healthy eating habits.

Dulai Farm
Fresh from Gridley, California, delicious kiwis from Dulai Farms!
Kiwi fruit is packed with vitamin C and is a colorful addition to our menus here at Plumas Lake. They may seem exotic, but these emerald delights contain many vitamins and minerals that promote your health. High in antioxidants and fiber, it's safe to call these fuzzy brown bundles a 'superfood'.

Tri-L Mandarin Ranch
A wonderfully fresh winter citrus!
Our schools get a fresh burst of orange color and flavor through November, December and beyond from Tri-L Mandarin Ranch in Oroville, California. Farmer Lou picks, packs, and delivers the fruit to us!
Tri-L Mandarin Ranch is a founding partner of the Feather River Gold Mandarin Coop. Tri-L has a lovely orchard (pictured below) producing mandarins bursting with flavor! Farmer Scott hand-delivers our school's mandarins weekly through the peak season. These sweet treats are a definite favorite among the Kitchen Team, and the students can't get enough of them!
Mandarins are great additions to breakfast, make a perfect "grab'n'go" snack, and are a bright option for after-lunch treats.
