Response to
Intervention, RTI, is the districts plan to organize intervention
resources so that may provide more intensive, individualized support as
students display increased needs. RTI is also diagnostic tool, in that
it provides evidence that students with significant learning delays may have a learning disability.
The
school site Response to Intervention Team discusses and recommends
intervention strategies using regular school resources and personnel.
The team may coordinate assessment referrals for students whose needs
cannot be met with modification of the regular program. The RTI team
may refer a student to special education only after all resources of
regular education have been considered and, where appropriate, utilized.
