Thought
There have been a few concerns regarding the GATE program for next year because we will not be funding the GATE coordinator position.
Reflection
The School Board is committed to continue offering a balanced, effective, enriching Gifted and Talented Program in the District. Our after-school GATE Enrichment Program has been tremendously successful and concern regarding the State budget cuts is understandable. The District will continue to offer the after-school GATE enrichment program just as we have this year and in addition, sites will receive a few more dollars to add GATE activities during the day. It is unfortunate we are unable to fund the GATE coordinator position, however it will not affect the daily operations of the program. The after-school GATE enrichment will be coordinated through the Superintendents office.
